Sedimentology instrument room

This room is dedicated to processing and analyzing soil samples. It is used to prepare samples for the CT and µCT scanners. It also provides additional information that helps to optimize parameter acquisition with this equipment. Laser particle counter
The Beckman-Coulter LS13320 laser granulometer is equipped with humid and dry modules enabling analysis of both suspended and granular materials. This instrument measures light diffusion by particles using a 5-mW, 750-nm light source. The modules can measure particles with diameters from 0.04 to 2000 μm and 0.4 to 2000 μm, respectively.
Centrifuge
The Beckman-Coulter Avanti J-26 XP centrifuge is equipped with 3 rotors (5 x 50 ml, 6 x 1 l, and 6 x 250 ml). Its maximum rotating speed is 26,000 RPM, and its temperature can be adjusted from -10 to 40 °C.
Oven and Muffle furnace
The oven is 226.5 L with a temperature range of 0 to 250 ºC and the muffle furnace is 5.8 L and can reach temeratures up to 1200 °C.
Sieve shaker
The Ro-Tap® E sieve shaker has 38 different sieves ranging from 25 mm to 63 μm and can accommodate up to 10 sieves. It has two vibration modes, fine and coarse. Its horizontal circular motion with vertical tapping ensures accurate and consistent results. Le tamisage est assurée par une tamiseuse de laboratoire Ro-Tap® E développée par W.S. Tyler™ qui peut .contenir jusqu’à 10 tamis. La tamiseuse offre deux modes de vibration (fin et grossier), son. mouvement horizontal et circulaire avec une action de tapotement vertical assure des résultats précis et cohérents.
